Fast2Task - Taxonomies Documentation
What are Taxonomies?
You can think of Taxonomies as Categories or Groups. In many cases you may actually have a Taxonomy called “Category” for example if you are organising your products. You will have seen this in many online stores where you can filter products by category. Sometimes the categories have sub-categories which are arranged in a hierarchy like a tree. In Fast2Task you can create as many Taxonomies as you like and you can have as many levels as you like.
Using Taxonomies
First you will need to create a taxonomy. You can do this by clicking on the Taxonomies button at the top of a resource list page. All resources in Fast2Task can be assigned to a taxonomy. You can assign a resource to multiple taxonomies. Please note that a taxonomy only exists in the context of the resource type it is created for. For example, if you create a taxonomy for assets, it will not be available for tasks or projects.
Common Taxonomy Examples
- Products resources might have one taxonomy called Category, and another one called Brand. You can create these and any other taxonomies you like, then assign Products to them.
- Clients might have a taxonomy called Industry, and another one called Region. You can create these and any other taxonomies you like, then assign Clients to them.
- Invoices might have a taxonomy called Flag which you could use to mark invoices that need attention. You can create this and any other taxonomies you like, then assign Invoices to them.
Adding Taxonomies to a Resource
When you are creating or editing a resource, you can assign it to a taxonomy. You can assign a resource to multiple taxonomies.
Showing Taxonomies in a List
When you are viewing a list of resources, you can click the Three-Dots icon at the top right of the list then choose manage columns. You can then add a column for each of your Taxonomies. This will allow you to see which Taxonomies each resource is assigned to, and by clicking on the filter button next to the Taxonomy name you can filter the list to show only resources assigned to that Taxonomy.
